David Johnson sits on the board of DMVMA and is passionate about helping the music community grow and thrive to give to musicians, venues, engineers and producers, merchandisers and everyone else who works in the industry opportunities to thrive and bring the gift of music to all who live here.

David began performing professionally in his teens and is a multi-instrumentalist, producer, engineer and DJ. He has wide experience working in venues, musical instrument merchandise, and also promoting and putting on festivals. David is also a designer and fine artist who builds guitars and does custom finishes. He acts as a buyer/seller for instruments and gear.

Like most musicians and artists, he’s had a string of day jobs including Chief Technology Officer of Scripps Howard Media, Professor of Innovation at American University’s School of Communication, and works as a marketing and strategy consultant to startups and established companies looking to innovate and disrupt their sectors.
